Exhibition Fossil Molluscs of Northwestern Croatia

Krapina Neanderthal Museum

As part of the Kajkavian Culture Week, on September 11, the exhibition "Fossil Molluscs of Northwestern Croatia" was officially opened in the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. The author of the exhibition, which introduces us in an interesting way to the most important genera and species from the genus of molluscs, is Nikolina Ileković, curator geologist at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. In addition to the geological structure of Northwestern Croatia and bivalves and snails, the exhibition also presents extinct groups of molluscs such as ammonites, belemnites and rudists.

At the official opening, the audience, which consisted the most of Krapina high school students, was addressed by the head of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, Eduard Vasiljević, the president of the City Council of the City of Krapina, Mladen Gregurović, and the author herself, who introduced the visitors to the interesting things from the world of fossil molluscs. Jurica Sabol, the director of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, declared the exhibition open.

The exhibition, which emphasizes the importance of fossil and recent molluscs as indicators of climate and environmental changes, is accompanied by a catalogue intended for a wide audience, and will be open until 15 November 15 2024.
