On Friday, 30 August 2024, in the "Old Village" Museum, the guest exhibition "When the White Lilies Bloom" was opened, by Miroslav Šarić, a museum employee of the Našice Local History Museum.
Museum visitors were presented with the tangible and intangible heritage of veneration of St. Anthony of Padua in the Našice and Slatina region. The exhibition is enriched with numerous devotional icons, prayer books, rosaries, votive objects, devotionals and objects made of wax. With pious objects, many believers show their devotion to St. Anthony of Padua.
At the official opening of the exhibition, the head of the "Old Village" Museum, Anita Paun-Gadža, spoke about the author of the exhibition, museum worker, collector, admirer of traditional heritage Miroslav Šarić. The author of the exhibition introduced the audience to the exhibition, noting that the exhibition is divided into two parts, intangible and tangible heritage in celebration of the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua. He pointed out that popular piety followed the rules of the church itself and that believers do not expect a miracle from the objects on display, but serve as a visualization during prayer.
In the musical part of the program, alongside the author of the exhibition, Anita Huđek, a professional dancer and singer, an artist in the Lado Ensemble, performed with the song "When the white lilies bloom" from the village of Sopje and with a bećarac with verses mentioning St. Anthony.
The exhibition was opened by the mayor of the municipality of Kumrovec, Robert Šplajt.
The exhibition can be viewed until 5 October 2024.
